About Me
My work blends analog collage and taiko (Japanese drumming) to explore cultural identity, intergenerational memory, and liberation. With a background in nonprofit program management supporting BIPOC youth, I bring organizational leadership and community-centered practice to my creativity. Born and raised in the East Bay, California, I am a proud Chinese-Japanese American collagist and longtime taiko artist. I first connected with taiko in my 20s—through the rhythm of the taiko and the movements of resistance. I play and perform with Oakland-based groups, Queer Taiko and Club Hachijo, and teach beginner taiko at Berkeley Buddhist Temple. Teaching beginning taiko has deepened my commitment to cultural sharing and community power.
As an emerging visual artist, I was a part of the inaugural Emerging Artist cohort with East Bay Open Studios in 2025. My collages are layered with emotion, dreams, and lived experience, offering space to reclaim identity and spark connection across generations. Rooted in youth work and lifelong learning, I embrace art as ancestral inheritance—healing, affirming, and sparking collective imagination.
